New Frontiers call for proposals 22-23 & New Frontiers 21-22 results

New Frontiers call for proposals 22-23 & New Frontiers 21-22 results, 8 projects were selected for funding for a total of 600k €

New Call for Proposals New Frontiers 2022-2023 !

Objectives

With a budget of 300 k€, this new call for projects aims as before to fund original, emerging research projects within major themes of research (MTRs) of the LabEx. Its primary purpose is to fund research projects that are not yet mature enough to be submitted to the ANR or other similar funding programs.

Duration and fundings

The proposed projects can be completed over 1 or 2 years with funding up to 50 k€/year. These funds can be used for all types of expenses: operations (including small equipment with a unitary value of less than 4 k€ HT), subcontracting, missions, conferences, personnel. Only equipment (investment) is not eligible.

Evaluation

The submitted projects will be sent to the members of the Scientific Council (SC) for verification and validation before being transmitted to the International Scientific Board (ISB), which will evaluate and rank them.
The Executive Council (EC) will then decide which projects to fund based on the ranking provided by the ISB. Three or four projects will be selected to allow a consistent level of funding for each of these projects.

Calendar

  • Opening of the call for projects: June 29, 2022
  • Deadline for submission of projects: September 29, 2022 (by email tulip-adm@inrae.fr)
  • Report of the evaluation and ranking of the ISB: October 28, 2022 (edit: postponed to november 24th for calendar constraints)
  • EC meeting for decision: November 4,2022 (~early december)

Eight projects selected for the 21-22 call

The call for projects "New Frontiers" 2021 has allowed to finance 8 projects (see below) out of the 20 that were submitted. The envelope of 450 k€ initially planned for this call has been increased to 600 k€, in agreement with the Scientific Council, the Executive Council and the International Scientific Board (ISB). Two reasons guided this choice: the fact that no call for New Frontiers projects were launched in 2019 and 2020 on the one hand and the quality of the projects on the other hand.
